Talk of the town 

The year 2007 is pivotal both for the world’s population and for the IFHP community. 2007 marks the 51st IFHP World Congress, and a demographic shift where 51% of the world’s population now live in cities. Indicators tell us that cities will continue to grow. The impacts of the rise of cities both large and small can be considered either a vast problem or a massive potential.
 

The future is multifaceted, and so are cities and the challenges facing them.

Is there a common denominator? What does Copenhagen have worth sharing with Shanghai, Bogota or Dubai? Copenhagen may not be a megacity, but it is a leader in urban liveability.

This is more than the talk of the town – it is the talk of the world. The high level of liveability can be attributed in part to the quality of Copenhagen’s built environment and urban infrastructure. The key is implementation of sustainable planning, building, housing and spatial solutions. How can

sustainable solutions help offer liveable environments to the world’s increasing urban populations?
